Fender GDC 200 Acoustic Electric Guitar Review
Classical concert guitarists, take note. This Fender GDC 200 Acoustic Electric Guitar Review may just make you change your mind about the guitar you are currently playing on.
What struck me first as I played the Fender was the careful placement of twenty threads on the Nato neck distinguished by the customary F inlayed at the twelve fret. Variations come almost effortlessly as the single and may I add quite deep cut away leaves ample access to the treble chords.
The neck measuring 1. 69 inches at the nut going to 2. 24 inches at the head made for perfect grip and finger positioning as you put this guitar through its paces.
As a concert player, the highly polished ash wood with the solid spruce top and rose wood fingerboard; I enjoyed the fact that my audience was enchanted with the movement picked up by the stage lights during playing. The craftsmanship on this instrument speaks of quality even from far away.
Holding the instrument that measures 25. 3 inches with a front body depth of 3. 62 inches growing into 4. 4 inches at the back, added no extra back strain as I found this design aspect a perfect fit for fast changes in posture.
I am not a huge fan of electric acoustic guitars on the concert stage, but was blown away with the crystal clear sounds picked up by the on board Fender active preamp and Piezo pickup. I had full control with the well-positioned volume control and four-band EQ system. A true strike of genius was the inclusion of the Fishman Classic IV T electronics that include a built in tuner.
As far as tone goes the Fender definitely produced a superior quality of sound and I have no other choice than to give a ten out of ten for the playability the Florentine single cut back offers. This design could only come from a designer who plays the classical guitar as well.
The cleverly crafted Rosewood bridge with compensated saddle kept up all the way without ever causing any surprises.
The finishing touches as seen in the side dot position inlays; urea nut and saddle, black body and neck bindings, cream dot bridge pins finished with black and end pin in a cream color; give this instrument the look serious players enjoy and appreciate. The body is well protected with a polyurethane high gloss finish and sports golden die cast machine heads.
Hop in at nationwide music stores which stock guitars and try a dry run on this model from the world-renowned Fender stall. You will be as excited as I was when you hear and see what I am trying to describe here.
