Guild D55 Acoustic Electric Guitar
The Guild D55 Acoustic Electric Guitar is the company's flagship model, and any serious player who's into dreadnought style acoustic electric guitars will appreciate the instrument for what it can bring to the music playing experience. Originally introduced in 1968, it is a mark of how highly respected he insurance is in the music world that it has lasted for over 40 years.
This particular Guild features the best in high-quality spruce tops (AAA) with a back of solid matched exotic rosewood that can also be found on the sides. The combination of rosewood and spruce has been recognized for years as having an ability to project sound that cuts through the noise and clutter that can be found in many a concert or club atmosphere.
Additionally, the neck itself features three-piece construction of mahogany/maple/mahogany topped off by an ebony fretboard that features 20 frets that run all the way up to a 1 11/16 inch nut that leads to a series of Grover gold plated machine heads or tuners. Scale length on this particular guitar runs 25 5/8 inches and all hardware associated is also goldplated. Those tuners are diecast, by the way.
Drawing on nearly 50 years of experience at building dreadnought style guitars, Guild has packed all of its talent into a model that is rightfully famous for the tone, responsiveness and ability to deliver extreme levels of sustained and projection. As far as register goes, the Guild is equally as adept in the mid range as it is in the basd and treble registers. That's a feature highly appreciated by many a guitar player.
What is well known about this guitar is that it has probably been featured on more record albums and by more artists from more genres than any other guitar in history. It is just as good at playing a country type style as it is at playing the more rock oriented acoustic music featured since the mid-1990s. It comes standard with a deluxe hard shell case that can stand up to even a swift kick.
The electronics package that comes with the Guild D55 Acoustic electric guitar is first rate, and features what the company calls a "Lock and Load pickup system." All in all, it's hard to find any sort of a downside with a guitar of this quality, and it's sure to remain a favorite for many more decades. Prices start in the mid-3000s, but discounts can get that down to just under three.
If high-quality, high style and extreme durability and reliability in a guitar it's also able to project a wide range of sounds is important, then the Guild will be one of the few acoustic electric guitars that are liable to make the cut year after year. These guitars make good players better and better players great.
