Ibanez MSC650VV Montage Acoustic Electric Guitar
The Ibanez MSC650VV Montage Acoustic electric guitar is one serious looking guitar that will be almost impossible to not notice in any club or playing situation. It works great at combining a range of acoustic sounds and an equally impressive range of electric sounds in one instrument package. They guitar itself tends to treat what it does much as the finest electric guitars do, by the way.
This is because Ibanez has taken the time and put in the effort to equip this instrument with a ton of features that normally are found in the acoustic electric guitars costing thousands of dollars more. On board the guitar are such things as reverb, chorus, distortion capability and a number of other sound production features that make it clear that while this monster is an acoustic guitar it can throw down with even a few regular electric guitars.
The reason this guitar can bring many such capabilities to the table is through the use of a company proprietary electronics package that makes use of two different pickups; one for the acoustic range and one for the electric range. All of the controls are mounted on the upper part of the body (called the "upper bout"), and are powered by four AA batteries in addition to a single four inch output.
Featuring a quilted maple body, it presents itself in what's called a vintage violin gloss finish. The guitars body itself is referred to as a semi-jumbo, and it also has a very nice, very attractive single cutaway that enables fast flying fingers to get down to even the highest of notes on the fret board with the greatest of ease.
This particular Ibanez acoustic electric guitar makes fine use of what the company calls "Fast Action Set up Technology." This package allows the player speedily adjust the action -- meaning how high above the fret board and the frets the strings are -- to personal preference. The guitar also features an exotic rosewood fretboard and bridge, serious quality bridge pins and gold plated die-cast tuners or machine heads, as they're sometimes called.
This is a very impressive equipment package considering the relatively low price the guitar can be found at from many an online retailer. It will come standard with a set of D'Addario EXP strings that deliver fine sound, but there will usually not be a case offered as standard equipment. It is highly recommended that a hard shell case, then, be obtained along with the guitar.
As purely a matter of finances, it's hard to find another acoustic electric guitar out there that delivers all the features that are found in the Ibanez MSC650VV Montage acoustic electric guitar package. That is, unless a player is willing to pay quite a few dollars more to get those same features along with the quality of sound that's put out by this guitar.
