Ovation Adamas Ultra GP 1431 Acoustic Electric Guitar Review

As I arrived to do an Ovation Adamas Ultra GP 1431 Acoustic Electric Guitar Review at my local dealer, he handed me a beautifully crafted instrument that at fist look reminded me of a Gibson Les Paul. But the body immediately shied away from this comparison as I discovered it to be much more comfortable.

The dual cut away areas promised easy all round access, which I discovered to be very handy once I played on it for a while. The base notes are very deep and delivered perfect support to the bright and clear trebles that flowed like icy water.

I had to stop playing and turn the instrument round as I missed the distinct poke of a heel into my body. I was pleasantly surprised to see how perfectly the neck blended into the body with a sweeping curve - unlike other guitars I usually play.

From experience I gathered that this unique design would give me super easy access to the upper fret. Concentrating on that aspect, I continued to discover what the ovation had to offer and discovered this advantage to be really pleasant.

I must admit that I found this instrument really easy to play. The semi flat contour of the neck worked like a charm in my hand and the overall design did not cause any stress in my lower back as it fits perfectly on my body.

Having 22 frets gave me a much wider range to work in than the usual 20-fret setup I am used to. I managed a couple of new sounds and cannot wait to exploit this added benefit even more.

The thickness of the wood and sturdiness of the body delivers a thick rich sound with amazing clarity on the treble making this guitar perfect for some country or even crunch rock sounds. The combination of deep bass and fine treble balance each other out perfectly and you can get a massive sustain with some practice and by fine-tuning the electronics.

The two volume adjustments worked well with the dual tone setting mechanisms. This gave me the chance to balance the bass perfectly with the treble sounds. Clever design as the guitar can produce quite strong bass sounds should your play focus shift to bass play.

A three position pick up switch just builds further on creating masterfully blended sound. Access to controls is easy and they are placed where you expected them to be. It is clear why Josh Homme - world-class guitarist - prefers this guitar as it suits his style of play perfectly producing classic down tuned stoner rock music in his skillful hands.
