Ovation Adamas W2097 VIIP Acoustic Electric Guitar Review

Since the first design in 1976, Adamas found themselves as the leading acoustic sound in the world of guitars a title they carefully protected through the years. To do an Ovation Adamas W2097 VIIP Acoustic Electric Guitar Review is more than a pleasure for me as I seldom get to play on these legendary instruments.

The model handed to me had a deep Cobalt blue color that gave it a very rock look with sophistication added into the equation. This six string guitar with its deep contoured body produced a sound that can clearly be only Adamas and the body shape made it a real pleasure to play.

Interesting though the neck sprouts an ebony wood fret board. This almost black wood was also used to create the finely cut bridge. The top made from long Cross weaved Carbon Fibers compliments the carbon body.

Using carbon to make the guitar gave it a lightness one would not expect on fist pick up of the instrument, but do not be fooled by this as the sound box delivers a strong full sound with plenty of sustenance.

With a Scale Length of 25 ¼, the W2097 can not be seen as a small guitar, but in hold the fit seems perfect especially the curves of the rounded body works particularly well. The Nut width of 1 11/16 makes for comfortable playing and allow for easy string access. I could not wind up this guitar even as I came down hard on it really pushing the sound; the Adamas kept a level head and produced trustworthy explosions of clear sounds. Impressive enough as acoustic guitar, I could not wait to plug in the electric components.

Again the sound quality surprised me as the Ovation OCP-1 High Output pick up carried natural sounding chords to the speaker systems and amps. You really need a very fine ear to hear any difference or extortion for that matter.

I fiddled a bit with the Ovation golden tuning mechanisms to see if I could get some twang, but nothing. The guitar just went out of tune and waited patiently for me to stop this nonsense. After this exercise I am completely sold on the carbon body. It sounds just like wood, but no strain will affect the sound quality.

I reluctantly returned the Adamas to its owner only to learn that he bought this beauty straight from the production line. The snares were replaced a time or two and he had the rosette masterfully crafted from multi piece exotic hardwoods cleaned once as he loved the luster it gave his guitar. Apart from that he have not spend a single dime on maintenance. Maybe the almost space age materials used to build this guitar is the answer as far as longevity of musical instruments are concerned.
