Taylor 814-CE Acoustic Electric Guitar

The Taylor 814-CE Acoustic Electric Guitar model is perennially one of the companies top-selling guitars for a myriad of reasons. This particular instrument uses quality and exotic rosewood in order to bring out some of the best sound around. In fact, the sound that emanates from this particular guitar is instantly recognizable when heard by just about any acoustic electric guitar enthusiast.

Additionally, this particular model features a classic Venetian cutaway and the company's proprietary Taylor Expression System electronics package that makes this model equally proficient at delivering some of the best acoustic sound while also being able to plug-in and stand out in any large concert hall or stadium or arena in which it might find itself.

As far as construction goes, this Taylor guitar features Indian rosewood along its back and sides that are complemented by a high quality Sitka spruce top. The sound hole on the body features a premium abalone rosette that even has pearl inlays running all throughout it. The beautiful and amazing neck is made from a tropical American mahogany featuring 20 frets and is a deep, rich ebony.

That neck culminates at the top with a very nice Tusq nut and saddle that runs to the company specific goldplated machine heads (as some call them tuners) that are renowned for their ease of tuning and swift action. Additionally, the guitar comes with a top-flight Taylor Deluxe Hardshell case. The 800 series of guitars from the Taylor company has a long and proud tradition within the company.

To highlight everything, the Taylor guitar making operation uses a quality gloss finish that gives the guitar the ability to withstand extreme temperature changes, especially those involving cold-weather, while also being of a kind that is more friendly to the environment than our more traditional chemical related finishes. For those who think Green, the guitar is bound to make them happy.

Scale length in this particular guitar comes in at 25 1/2 inches, and that cutaway at the bottom allows even the slowest fingered guitarist to get to the highest notes in the shortest amount of time, while being extremely accurate when doing it. The overall length of the guitar comes in at a very nice 41 inches, making it extremely easy to carry and play.

All in all, the Taylor 814-CE Acoustic Electric Guitar is quite a package. Because it's a Taylor made guitar, it isn't going to be a very inexpensive guitar, so keep that in mind. Though most of the 800 series guitars come with high list prices (this one was nearly $4100), nice discounting by many retailers can bring the price down somewhat. Taylor guitars are for those who really love the guitar.
